OPTE

The in-house creative team at P&G Ventures approached me and my team at The Marmalade to help introduce their revolutionary OPTE wand. An innovative beauty tech device that intelligently applies make-up and skincare.

The Task

Over the course of several years me and my team at The Marmalade collaborated closely with the product and design teams at P&G Ventures to  get OPTE off the ground.

From early prototype stages on we helped to visualize the innovative concept, first to promote it internally and later on, to educate consumers about the disruptive technology inside the device, as well as the benefits of this radical beauty tech solution.

Our work cumulated in a breadth of visual assets that raise awareness around the OPTE serum, the sophisticated technology of the device and the demonstration of OPTE’s »scan – detect – correct« method.

Director’s Cut

Digital Content

Directing the CGI and compositing team at The Marmalade, one of the most crucial and rewarding tasks within this project was to develop a visual language that would marry the aesthetics of a contemporary beauty and cosmetics look with what would speak to a forward thinking, technology-savvy consumer.

This visual language was then tested and implemented throughout the entire digital consumer journey.

In alignment with the P&G Ventures team I defined a list of assets that ensures a holistic understanding of this innovative device, that combines a detecting camera in combination with AI to only apply a serum and pigments on dark spots of your skin, resulting in a lightweight, exactly distributed make-up layer and an intrinsic solution that brightens dark spots over time.

Starting with linear storytelling for videos that educate about the method and the benefits of OPTE, we expanded into stills and short loops, that help accompany the copy and inform consumers on OPTE’s website, the digital point of sales and social media.

Due to the wide range of touchpoints our visuals were to be applied, we followed our practice of a format-agnostic approach, considering a wide range of aspect ratios and formats for our assets.

Knowing these needs upfront, we framed our visuals to be super-flexible when it comes to catering to all kinds of formats as well as to communication needs.

This approach resulted in an array of assets that enabled the coms team at OPTE to pick a certain loop and craft a story around it that is as engaging as it is educating to their communities on any social or shopping platform.
